Te Raukura ki Kāpiti Performing Arts Centre has rapidly become a centrepiece for the arts in Kāpiti, hosting everything from comedians to musicals to the Royal New Zealand Ballet to the NZSO. Since opening in 2020, we have had the benefit of the loan of a Bechstein grand piano. It is now time to purchase our own Steinway D concert grand, the overwhelming choice of the world’s greatest musicians, to grace Coastlands’ Theatre for many years to come.
Who Benefits?
• Concert goers and music lovers throughout the region. The Steinway D will attract a high calibre of musical performance works and will be the centrepiece of our concert programme for local and national musicians.
• Acoustic musicians across a range of genre from classical to jazz
• Young aspiring musicians in the region, who will be able to perform on a professional instrument in a professional venue.
• The region as a whole benefits from our developing reputation for performance excellence.
Our very own Kāpiti College Urumatua Tari (HOD) Music, Dr Gioia Brunoro, tested out the Steinway model D:

I am very excited about the possibilities the quality of the Model D will provide, attracting the very top artists to come to perform at Te Raukura Ki Kāpiti and being an inspiration to our aspiring young pianists here on the Coast.”
We welcome any and all community assistance to purchase our Steinway D. We have a good start with generous assistance from the StanJoy Charitable Trust. For major sponsors, we offer a place on a naming “Key Board” in the atrium of Te Raukura ki Kāpiti Performing Arts Centre. We are looking for 88 significant sponsors, one for each key. A donation of $500 or more offers naming rights for one of the white keys. $1000 or more gives naming rights for a black key. All donations are tax deductible and each donor will receive a receipt and certificate of thanks. There will be a special performance for “Key Board” donors and other major sponsors.
