Comedy Fest in Kapiti

The New Zealand Comedy Trust presents – Comedy Fest in Kāpiti.

Kāpiti, we’re back for one night only and we’re bringing the big laughs with us!

Hosted by Sam Smith (as seen on the Best Foods Comedy Gala and The Traitors NZ), this is a punchy, high-energy Festival showcase built like a greatest-hits album: fast, fun, and stacked with comedians you already love, plus a few you’re about to become slightly obsessed with.

Leading the charge is Josh Thomson – one of Aotearoa’s sharpest and most effortlessly funny performers. A mainstay of NZ panel comedy – from 7 Days and 7 Days Live to Have You Been Paying Attention? NZ, Patriot Brains and Taskmaster NZ – Josh brings fast thinking, big presence, and that rare skill of making chaos look completely under control. Expect punchy stand-up, quick-fire riffs, and stories that land hard – the kind of set that has the whole room cackling and wondering how he made it look so easy.

Alongside Sam and Josh, we also have Danish powerhouse Sofie Hagen joining us! Sofie has been taking the international festival circuit by storm with their sharp one-liners and hilarious topical style. A crowd favourite at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and beyond, and sure to be a hit in Kāpiti next!

We'll also be joined by 2023 Billy T Award nominee Gabby Anderson, a comedian, improviser, and performer from Te Whanganui-a-Tara. Known for her sharp wit, joyful humour, and physicality. She won the National Raw Comedy Quest in 2018 early in her stand-up career and has had multiple sold-out shows throughout her festival journey.

Last but certainly not least, is exciting rising voice and silly goose Oliver Pol, bringing playful storytelling, unexpected observations, and off beat charm to Te Raukura ki Kāpiti, Coastlands Theatre.

This has been a sold-out event for the last few years, and it’s shaping up to sell out again – so get in quick, round up your comedy mates, and lock it in early. World-class stand-up, right in the heart of Paraparaumu.
